Goal is to improve your vocabulary, comprehension of written English, and even standardized test scores through learning the extensive Greek and Latin components of English. Focus will be on patterns and processes in the formation of the lexicon. Terminology used in medicine, business, education, law, and humanities; introduction to principles of language history and etymology. Greek or Latin not required.

Introduction to New Testament Greek

Vocabulary, grammar, morphology, and syntax of kioné Greek, the original language of the writings gathered in the New Testament. Students read selections from Luke, John, the Pauline epistles, and Acts. No previous knowledge of Greek required.

CLASSLAT 10
Intensive Beginning Latin
7-9
units

Equivalent to CLASSLAT 1, 2, 3; or 51 and 52. Goal is to read easy Latin prose and poetry by the end of the quarter. Classics majors and minors must take course for letter grade. CLASSLAT 10 fulfills the University language requirement.
